Ms. Martha Y. Zavala was born and raised in East Los Angeles, attended East LA College, and majored in History at Cal Poly Pomona. Ms. Zavala retired from Los Angeles County after 40 years of service. During her tenure Ms. Zavala helped manage the selection and replacement of the County’s aging financial, purchasing, personnel and payroll systems.
Ms. Zavala has been a member of the League of Women Voters Pasadena Area since 2015. In 2016, Ms. Zavala was elected Director of Voter Services responsible for voter registration, voter education and voter engagement. She was elected president of the League of Women Voters – Pasadena Area in June 2020.
In May 2021, she celebrated 47 years of marriage. Every April and October she and her husband, Peter,
celebrate the birth of their sons, Aaron and Mateo.
Ms. Zavala has served on the Board of East Los Angeles College Alumni Association since 2017.
