Dr. Monica Thurston dedicated a decade of service as the Allied Health Department Chair, along with thirteen years as the Director and instructor of Health Information Technology at ELAC. Under her leadership, the program attained successful programmatic accreditation. Dr. Thurston demonstrated diplomacy by securing grant funding to enhance resources for student learning in allied health professions. Notably, she pioneered the first HIT Apprenticeship Program in California and facilitated the establishment of the Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program.
